Jadon Sancho handed yet another Man Utd transfer blow after £25m Chelsea decision made

Send Push

Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho has reportedly been priced out of a potential move to Napoli owing to his high wage demands.

Sancho has struggled since his £73million switch from Borussia Dortmund - and spent the 2024/25 season on loan with Premier League rivals Chelsea, who paid a £5m penalty to send him back to United. However, under new head coach Ruben Amorim, the 25-year-old's Old Trafford stay is set to come to an end once again.

Italian giants Napoli are understood to be one of the sides interested in his services, with Sancho open to a move to Serie A, but only if the terms are agreeable. According to reports from Italy, Napoli are leading the chase, having been the first club to register an interest earlier this summer.

The United winger is said to prefer a move to Antonio Conte's squad.

However, a transfer is now in doubt after Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna claimed the club's wage offer is non-negotiable. "Our offer is clear, we will not pay Sancho's requested salary," journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu said via X (was Twitter).

A switch back to Germany has been explored, but our colleagues at The Manchester Evening News understand a move to the Bundesliga is no longer on the cards for Sancho, whose agent - Emeka Obasi - discussed potential openings following his stint at Dortmund during the latter part of last term. United are keen to secure a fee similar to the one agreed with Chelsea, around £25m, despite Sancho's less-than-stellar stint in west London.

Sancho netted five goals and provided 10 assists in 41 matches for the Blues - who clinched the UEFA Conference League and a top-four finish in the Premier League during his time there.
