Liverpool have taken a firm stance on ticket-touting by handing out 75 lifetime bans and shutting down accounts deemed suspicious following a lengthy investigation process.
The club has issued a statement affirming its "zero-tolerance approach" to , confirming some 1,500 tickets were cancelled during the 2023-24 season. In addition to the bans already issued, more than 5,000 further accounts remain under investigation.

"Liverpool FC continues to take decisive action against ticket touting, shutting down close to 100,000 fake ticketing accounts, while issuing 75 lifetime bans and 136 indefinite suspensions last season alone," read, "The number of accounts deactivated includes those cancelled following investigations and others blocked from sales or ballots due to suspicious online activity or identified as bots.
"A further 5,670 accounts are currently under review by the club for suspicious activity, including supplying persons who have recently been charged by for fraud related to ticket touting. A total of 1,500 tickets were cancelled across the 2023-24 season, either part of mass cancellations or from account holders who had already received sanctions, and the tickets were made available for resale.
"The vast majority of lifetime bans and indefinite suspensions were handed down for unauthorised selling of season tickets, memberships or hospitality tickets, in breach of terms and conditions. This reflects the club’s zero-tolerance approach to all forms of ticketing touting."

The club also said it has invested in further "anti-touting measures" this season. Liverpool reminded fans not to buy tickets from unofficial channels, while providing them with information on where to purchase official match tickets and hospitality packages.
Back in July, reported that cancelled 24 season tickets from fans who didn't meet the threshold of attending 17 of 22 home games or relisting on the club's official ticket exchange. Additionally, 54 season ticket holders and 20,000 club members were reportedly banned for "attempting to obtain tickets in unauthorised ways".
Arsenal have a ballot system in place for home match tickets, and say the results of these ballots will be "scrutinised by specialist anti-bot ". Liverpool introduced a ballot system of their own for local general and Members’ sales ahead of the 2023-24 season, saying at the time: "This move has been made to make the process fairer for all and give as many local supporters as possible the chance to attend matches at Anfield."
