Tottenham next five fixtures compared to Chelsea and Aston Villa after dominant West Ham comeback

Send Push

It took Tottenham 20 minutes to capitulate against Brighton before the international break. After going 1-0 down, albeit against the run of play, in the visit of West Ham, the prospect of another disappointing weekend was prominent.

. Three goals, all from different moves and with different scorers, later, the points were sown up.

. There was some huff and puff at a frustrated stadium prior to levelling the game but things spiralled for West Ham from there on.

, even if it did result in more shots, sustained attacks, and, ultimately, goals. In an attitude change from his 'let the players sort it out themselves' stance at Brighton, Postecoglou's change correlated with a much-improved performance.

The win temporarily takes Tottenham into sixth ahead of the weekend's nine other fixtures. That is just one away from Chelsea in fourth.

Already it seems that the battle for Champions League places will be every bit as competitive as last season. That makes wins like this, against a hapless Hammers side, even more important.

Here, football.london brings you Tottenham's next five fixtures compared to their numerous Champions League competing rivals.

Crystal Palace (A) - Sunday, October 27

Predicting Tottenham matches is frankly a fool's game but after an exciting turnaround and a largely impressive home performance against London opposition, Postecoglou will be confident of following that up against Palace. With midweek commitments in the Europa League against AZ Alkmaar, the biggest threat to another win is fitness.

Oliver Glasner's side have struggled to hit the heights of last season's end and will be up against it from the start to change their fortunes here. Ahead of some trickier fixtures, this is a big chance for Spurs to get consecutive victories.

Aston Villa (H) - Sunday, November 3

In a match that Tottenham lost last season, the importance of beating those around the top four race will not be lost on anyone. Both sides will be coming off the back of Carabao Cup fourth round action heading into this exciting clash.

Two of the highest lines in the division going up against each other, goals are almost certain to follow. This promises to be a game that could define who gets European football come the end of the campaign.

Ipswich Town (H) - Sunday, November 10

From Champions League to Championship, Spurs welcome last year's fairytale story. Life back in the Premier League hasn't been easy for Kieran McKenna so far, though, and after seven games they are winless, even losing to West Ham.

The Tractors Boys do look more well equipped to to compete further into games that Southampton and Leicester, but that doesn't make this any easier. With the international break to follow, this game is a banana skin but one that Tottenham will be comfortable favourites for.

Manchester City (A) - Saturday, November 23

Cashing in against Ipswich will be vital given that immediately after the break it is off the Etihad Stadium. A match that rarely fails to disappoint, Spurs will be up against it to get anything from their visit to Manchester.

Without Rodri, City are certainly not the same relentless force that have dominated the league in recent years but still have enough to cause anyone problems. Tottenham will hope that their disruptive stye can cause serious issues for Pep Guardiola again.

Fulham (H) - Sunday, December 1

One of the league's less spoken-about sides kicks off a busy December schedule. Fulham continue to go under the radar with Marco Silva.

They are solid and often quite unspectacular but have weapons with Emile Smith Rowe and Adama Traore, to keep opponents honest. It may not look like a glamour match but really could be an early Christmas treat.
