Odisha: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made an important announcement on Wednesday (April 9). He informed that the state government will fill more than 12,000 vacant posts in the Home Department. The Chief Minister said that the state administration is also planning to set up 20 cyber police stations. Majhi was speaking to reporters at the airport here after returning from New Delhi on Wednesday night, where he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah besides hosting a two-day investor conference.

CM Majhi said that the Home Minister assured all possible support to the state government for maintaining law and order and a justice delivery system. He said that the state government will soon fill 12,000 vacant posts in the Home Department, which will help in maintaining the law and order situation in the state.
He said that in the meeting with Shah, the implementation of the Indian Justice Code (BNS), Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS), and Indian Evidence Act (BSA) in the state was discussed. He said that the rising cases of cybercrime were also discussed in the meeting.
Plan to open 20 new cyber police stations.
CM Majhi said that given the rising cyber crimes in the state, a plan has been made to open 20 new cyber police stations. Also, a crime scene officer will be appointed in every police station. The Chief Minister said, "We have received assurance of all possible cooperation from the Home Ministry. Filling up the vacant posts will help in improving law and order."

Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF): 3,000 posts
Traffic Police: 2,000 posts
Home Guards: 5,000 posts
Directorate of Public Prosecution: 267 posts
State Forensic Science Department: 254 posts
The announcement comes amid continuous protests by the opposition Congress, which has alleged that the law and order situation has deteriorated with a rise in crimes against women after the BJP formed the government in the state last June.
Besides, CM Majhi also mentioned a two-day investors' summit held in Delhi in which the state government signed 13 agreements and received 15 investment proposals worth an estimated Rs 1.03 lakh crore. This is expected to generate more than 95,000 employment opportunities.
