Agartala (Tripura) [India], October 26 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday highlighted the significant role of unorganised workers in driving rural economic growth.
He noted that the rural economy has benefited from the contributions of unorganised workers since the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. He was speaking at the inauguration of the first state-level exhibition on the PM Vishwakarma Yojana at Rabindra Bhawan in Agartala, attended by Union Minister Jitendra Ram Majhi.
"Previously, there were only about 4,000 Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the state. Since our government took office, this number has risen to approximately 50,000. Beneficiaries linked to this initiative will gain from the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, which has strengthened Tripura's rural economic structure," he remarked.
The Chief Minister also underscored Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to social transformation through governance.

"It is our shared vision. On September 17, 2023, during Vishwakarma Puja, the Prime Minister launched the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, a Rs 13,000-crore project aimed at supporting skilled artisans and labourers who had been previously overlooked. Unorganised workers make an enormous contribution to the country's economic growth," he said.
CM Saha added that the PM Vishwakarma Yojana seeks to enhance the productivity of workers in the unorganised sector and improve the quality of their products.

"I urge the industries and commerce department, along with all relevant officials and workers, to maintain their dedicated efforts. The exhibition's stalls today showcased the Central Government's successful project implementation through MSMEs," the Chief Minister added.
He also spoke about the government's ongoing support through various schemes.
"Our vision is for an 'Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura,' in line with the Prime Minister's vision of 'Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat.' I am confident that these projects' successful implementation will continue to benefit beneficiaries in the future," he concluded.
The event was attended by Minister for Industries and Commerce Santana Chakma, MLA Rampada Jamatia, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of the Ministry of MSME Milind Ramteke, Director of the Industries and Commerce Department Vishwashree B, and other dignitaries.
Beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana from various districts across the state also participated. (ANI)
