Dewald Brevis has been one of Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) top performers since he was signed by the team for INR 2.20 crore as a cover for injured Gurjapneet Singh. The South African youngster hammered a rapid half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders in CSK's last match, which was at Eden Gardens on May 7. This innings saw the five-time champions end a four-match losing streak.
On Friday, May 9, Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was put on hold for a week due to the cross-border standoff between India and Pakistan. Some foreign players had headed home during the off-period, including Brevis.
The 18th iteration of the money-spinning league will get underway on Saturday (May 17). While there have been rumors that certain foreign stars will not return to play in the remaining games, Brevis is not one of them.
The Johannesburg-born used his official Instagram handle to verify that he would be coming back to feature in CSK's remaining two matches, against Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans. Brevis posted an image of a CSK huddle on his Instagram story and captioned it, "See you soon India".

CSK are experiencing one of their worst league seasons with the team being the first to get knocked out of this year's tournament. Today, they sit at the foot of the table with three victories and falling to nine defeats from 12 matches.
Brevis' performance has been the only silver lining for the Men in Yellow. The young batter has marked 126 runs from four games at an average of 31.50 and a strike rate of 163.64. He will hope to continue his rich run of form in the final two games and assist in not ending at the foot of the points table.
