The legendary has not been among the runs for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, Michael Clarke has backed India's Test and ODI skipper to rediscover his form in the coming matches.
Rohit, who is a former five-time IPL-winning captain, has only managed 38 runs from four innings at an abysmal average of 9.50 this season. Clarke, however, believes that one good knock could help Rohit turn things around by giving him some much-needed momentum. The former Australian captain believes that the 37-year-old could even score a century once he gets back his mojo.
"I think Rohit's an absolute superstar. It's just a matter of time before he makes (a) hundred. I think it's going to take one decent innings. It might be a 40, it might be a 60. He'll get momentum and then, you know, you'll see the best of Rohit Sharma. I wouldn't be too concerned about his form,” Clarke was quoted as saying by India Today.
"We all have high expectations of the great players because they've been so successful over a long period of time that, yeah, you're allowed to miss out on a couple of games. But class is permanent,” he added.
Mumbai to face unbeaten Delhi, eye comeback after shoddy start in IPLMumbai Indians also have not had a great start in IPL 2025. They are placed at No. 9 on the points table, having won just one out of their first five matches. Their only win came at the Wankhede Stadium against Kolkata Knight Riders. In their most recent fixture, the Hardik Pandya-led side lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 12 runs.
After almost a week's rest, the five-time champions will return to action when they take on an unbeaten Delhi Capitals lineup at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, April 13. The Capitals have won all four games they have played so far and they would want to extend their unbeaten streak further.
