When the first visuals of Ranbir Kapoor hugging a mystery man on the sets of Ramayana went viral, fans were curious—who was the actor playing Laxman? The answer turned out to be a familiar face from Indian television: Ravi Dubey. Known for his charming screen presence and rise from modest beginnings, Ravi is now all set to step into one of mythology’s most iconic roles in Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus.
His educational qualifications
Born in Gorakhpur, Ravi Dubey moved to Gurgaon soon after, where he spent most of his childhood. Coming from a non-filmy background—his father a civil engineer, his mother a homemaker—Ravi’s acting dreams seemed far-fetched. Reflecting on his journey, Ravi shared that growing up in Gurgaon, the idea of becoming an actor felt distant and unrealistic. His father encouraged him to pursue engineering as a backup, just in case things didn’t work out. But deep down, his father always believed Ravi was destined for the creative world. That belief influenced Ravi’s decision to move to Mumbai, not just for a college degree, but to chase a dream. So, as a practical Plan B, he shifted to Mumbai to pursue a degree in Telecom Engineering at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology. But his luck turned around.
His career
To earn some extra cash, Ravi dabbled in modelling, print ads, and commercials. One gig led to another, and before long, he made his TV debut with Stree...Teri Kahani on DD National. His first major break came with Doli Saja Ke on Zee TV, followed by roles in shows like Yaha Ke Hum Sikandar and Ranbir Rano. But it was Saas Bina Sasural and later Jamai Raja that turned him into a household name.
Today, Ravi not only headlines TV shows but also runs a successful production house with his wife, actress Sargun Mehta. Together, the power couple has been creating popular content for Indian television.
