The early buzz surrounding Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has set social media alight as initial reviews pour in. Directed by Anees Bazmee, this horror-comedy brings back Kartik Aaryan as the eccentric Rooh Baba and sees Vidya Balan returning in her iconic role as Avni/Manjulika. This installment also introduces Madhuri Dixit, adding a fresh dynamic that has intrigued fans. While some viewers praise its mix of humor and horror, others find the comedy occasionally forced, suggesting that the film, while engaging, has some inconsistencies.

Overall, Bazmee’s direction and the musical score, especially the track "Ami Je Tomar 3.0" sung by Shreya Ghoshal, have been well-received, with audiences appreciating the film’s attempt to blend thrills and laughs.

The excitement around Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 surged with the release of "Ami Je Tomar 3.0," a haunting track featuring a face-off between Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan. This scene, alongside Bazmee’s direction and Amaal Mallik’s music, has received praise for effectively balancing chills with comic relief. Social media reviews, however, are mixed. One user commented, “Totally invested. Can’t wait for the second half to start!” while another appreciated the film’s blend of horror and humor, noting that it provides a fun atmosphere despite some jokes feeling forced.

Yet, others critiqued the script, saying it lacked thrills and featured poorly timed jokes. In Bazmee’s hands, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 brings enough suspense and humor to entertain fans of the franchise, even if it may not win over all audiences.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 vs Singham Again
This Diwali season, Bollywood is banking on Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 alongside Singham Again, with hopes these star-studded releases will revive the box office. Both films are rolling out across 6,000 screens nationwide, marking an ambitious effort to attract audiences to theaters during the festive weekend. Exhibitors and trade analysts are optimistic that these big-budget franchise films will help recover the industry’s recent losses. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, following the success of horror-comedies like Stree 2 and Munjya, aims to capitalize on the audience's interest in the genre. With an ensemble cast featuring Triptii Dimri and a storyline laced with mystery and chills, it hopes to be a Diwali crowd-pleaser.

Analysts optimistic on both Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Singham Again

Meanwhile, Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty, is the third installment in the popular action franchise led by Ajay Devgn. The film promises high-octane drama with a lineup of Bollywood stars including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor. The film’s appeal lies in its mass entertainment factor, with Shetty’s signature style of dramatic action sequences and an ensemble of powerful characters.

The industry’s struggles this year have left cinema owners and producers hoping these festive releases will draw in substantial crowds. While films like Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Kartik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion had high expectations, they fell short in attracting audiences, contributing to a sluggish year at the box office. A few films, such as Devgn’s Shaitaan and Kiran Rao’s Lapaataa Ladies, managed moderate success, yet the overall performance has been underwhelming. Bihar-based exhibitor Vishek Chauhan suggests that a Diwali box-office clash between Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again could have been avoided given the industry’s recent losses. However, he’s hopeful both movies will succeed, noting that Singham Again, with its broader appeal, might dominate single screens, while Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 could fare better in multiplexes.

Trade experts have also weighed in on the competition. Taran Adarsh, a well-known trade analyst, believes the combined business from these festive releases will underscore the enduring potential of theatrical releases in India. Atul Mohan, another trade analyst, added that without the competition, each film might have achieved even higher box office numbers. (With Agency Inputs)
