In an incident in Gurgaon's Basai Enclave, a man was allegedly attacked after finding his wife with another man, echoing the recent gruesome Meerut murder that has shaken the public.

Police confirmed to PTI on Tuesday that the accused, identified as the wife' s lover, not only assaulted the husband with the butt of a pistol but also threatened with a fate similar to that of the recent Meerut horror.

According to the police report, the complainant, Mausam, a cab driver, returned to his Basai Enclave residence around 6 am on Monday after completing his night shift. Upon finding his wife missing from their room, he searched the property and discovered her on the terrace in the company of Naveen, a man from his native village in Haryana's Jhajjar.

“When I reached home around 6 am on Monday after night duty, I couldn’t find my wife in the room. When I went to the terrace, I saw my wife standing with Naveen, a resident of my village,” Mausam stated in his complaint.

According to PTI, when Mausam confronted the pair, Naveen allegedly reacted violently.

“As I interrupted them, Naveen took out a pistol and pointed it on my head. He also hit me on the head with the butt of the pistol. They fled after our neighbours reached the spot,” he added.

Following the alleged assault and threat, Naveen and the wife reportedly fled the scene as neighbours intervened.

Mausam, in his complaint filed with the police, stated that he had married his wife two years ago against the wishes of his family, and the couple had been residing in Basai Enclave since then.

Police have registered an FIR and have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident. A senior police officer confirmed to PTI that teams are actively working to locate and apprehend the accused, Naveen.
