He had a premonition: Matthew Perry's mother recalls their final conversation a year after his passing

As the first death anniversary of beloved Friends star Matthew Perry approaches on October 28, his mother Suzanne Morrison, and stepfather Keith Morrison, reflected on the late actor’s final days.

In an emotional interview with Today, Suzanne shared a poignant memory of her last conversation with her son, which now feels laced with a premonition about his untimely passing.

“He went through a period, interestingly enough, just before he died when he was showing me one of his new houses,” she recounted.

The interview, set to air Monday, has a promo released which gave a chilling insight into Perry’s state of mind before his passing. Suzanne revealed that Matthew expressed an unusual level of affection and contentment in their last meeting, almost as if he sensed something was coming.

“He came up to me and said, ‘I love you so much, and I’m so happy to be with you now.’ It was almost as though it was a premonition or something. I didn’t think about it at the time, but later I realized how rare that kind of conversation was for us,” she recalled.

Reflecting further, Suzanne said Perry confided that he was no longer afraid, words that left her unsettled. “There was an inevitability to what was going to happen next to him, and he felt it very strongly,” she added.

Perry, known to millions as Chandler Bing from Friends, passed away last year at 54. He was found unresponsive in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home, with acute ketamine effects cited as the cause.

Despite speaking openly about his struggles with addiction in his memoir and interviews, his passing left an unfillable void among his family, friends, and countless fans worldwide. As they remember him a year later, Suzanne’s story serves as a reminder of his final days.
