Delhi may see thunderstorms, gusty winds, and light rainfall today, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Light to moderate rain is expected tomorrow as well, with maximum temperatures likely to stay between 36 to 39 degrees Celsius.

IMD scientist Akhil Srivastava said that thunderstorms and strong winds are expected across parts of north India, especially in Punjab and Haryana. Jammu and Kashmir may also experience similar weather.

An orange alert has been issued for Uttar Pradesh due to possible hailstorms. In western Rajasthan, heatwave conditions may continue tomorrow and the day after.

The IMD also said that the southwest monsoon has advanced further, now covering Odisha, parts of the eastern Bay of Bengal, and northeastern states.

How to Stay Safe
  • During thunderstorms and strong winds, it is important to stay indoors as much as possible.
  • Avoid standing near tall trees or metal objects that could attract lightning.
  • Secure loose items around your home to prevent them from being blown away.
  • If you are driving, reduce speed and be cautious of slippery roads and poor visibility.
  • Keep an eye on weather updates and follow any instructions from local authorities to stay safe.
