In the wake of India’s swift and strategic counter-response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack—an operation now popularly known as Operation Sindoor—Bollywood is gearing up for its next patriotic blockbuster. Much like Uri: The Surgical Strike and Shershaah, which transformed real-life military operations into box office gold, this high-stakes mission has ignited cinematic interest across the industry. As emotions run high and national pride peaks, producers are scrambling to secure the rights to titles inspired by the operation.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, film industry associations such as the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) and the Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC) have witnessed a flurry of title registration requests. Starting at 3 PM on Wednesday, a surge of applications began pouring in, all centered around Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack.
IFTPC has reportedly received around 10 to 12 title requests so far, reflecting the intensity of interest from production houses looking to tap into the national mood. Most of the titles submitted are intended for either films or web series, ensuring the operation finds its way to multiple screens.
Big names are already in the race. The tabloid revealed that John Abraham’s production company, director Aditya Dhar’s banner, Mahaveer Jain’s studio, Ashoke Pandit, and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar are among the key contenders. Leading film studios including Zee Studios, JP Films, Bombay Show Studio, and Almighty Motion Picture have also joined the title chase.
Titles submitted
Some of the titles submitted include Operation Sindoor, Operation Sindoor Magnum, Pahalgam: The Horrific Terror, The Pahalgam Terror, and Sindoor Operation.
What is Operation Sindoor?
Operation Sindoor was a precision military response by Indian armed forces to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives. In a coordinated strike early May 7, missiles targeted nine terror hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including key bases of Jaish-e-Mohammad in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke, delivering a strong message against cross-border terrorism.
