From decoding "Orry" to exploring his diet and wardrobe: An exclusive with Bollywood's go-to friend

Often spotted with celebrities at high-profile events, Orry is a trusted friend in the B-town's inner circle. While he keeps a low profile in the media, his presence at parties and vacations has made him a familiar face among Bollywood elites and a social media sensation. Orry is also known for his eclectic fashion sense and commitment to fitness, often sharing glimpses of his lifestyle on social media. We met him at the launch of the Orry X Flying Machine Capsule collection and spoke to him about his style inspiration, B-town connection and what does his name actually mean. Here is an excerpt from the interview. We have tried our best to retain Orry's well-known conversation style.

What governs your style?

I believe in 'uniquism', meaning when I wear something I want you to remember that I wore it but that does not mean that I compromise on comfort. Because when I go out, I go out and I don't leave the house just for a picture because I am wearing it all day, all night. So I like uniquism married to comfort. You have to remember when Orry wore, Orry wore something. I am not gonna leave your lunch, your party or something or stay over when you aren't gonna remember what Orry wore two months ago. I might be wearing it for hours and I would be very chill in the outfit. I have a style of my own and I make a statement with it.


Who is your style icon and why?

My fashion inspiration started from Salman Khan's Tere Naam. And I have rocked that iconic hairstyle every single time. If I think of another Indian icon, I would say Hritik Roshan because a lot of his movies, lot of his dance numbers have really really really cool outfits. And also if we look at him today he is someone who can dance in something trendy, something cool, something funky. He looks a million dollars whatever he wears-from a cool shirt to a crisp suit.

Where do you shop from in India?

I buy from several shops for different kinds of outfits that I wear. For example I might shop from Flying machine if I am looking for trendy denims.


One fashion trend that you totally dislike and one that you absolutely love and why?

I don't really dislike any trend because when I see something I dislike, I see it as a challenge. So at one point when I hated fitted skinny jeans I thought let me make out how it's gonna work for me. And when I hated those fanny packs that were trending and I thought I would make them work for me, so I see these awful trends as challenges and I don't really mind trying them.

Almost everyone one is talking about how buying too many clothes can impact the environment. Do you think celebrities should set an example by repeating or refurbishing apparel?

It does impact the environment a 100 pc but I don't think they have to do anything like I'm sure they do repeat the outfits and they wear new ones as well. So they should do what they want to do without harming the environment. For example Aliya Bhatt might repeat her outfit but we also like to see her in a new outfit. I might not wear the same clothes in a row but I might repeat what I bought a year ago.

What does Orry mean?

If you feel my name means leader in Turkey---the bok-bok turkey (bird), then it is not that turkey. It means 'leader' in Turkish. It is the short form of Orhan which means a leader. "Orry" I just made that!


What is your fitness routine like?

So going to the gym is part of my pattern, part of my DNA. So I go to the gym everyday. I don't go to the office, I don't do the same thing everyday but one thing which is constant with me is going to the gym. So I will make sure, by hook or by crook, to make myself go to the gym. And when it comes to food I don't eat any sugar, not even fruits.
