Navratri Thali Preparation: During Navratri, people worship Goddess Durga. While she is worshipped continuously for nine days, a special puja is performed on Maha Ashtami. During the worship of Goddess Durga, the puja thali should contain several items for a successful puja. Astrologer Pandit Shatrughan Jha explained that for the worship of Goddess Durga, the first items on the thali should be Akshat (rice), Roli (red rice), turmeric, Kumkum (vermilion), and Abir-Gulal (white coloured powder).

Furthermore, the thali should also contain flowers, cloves, cardamom, betel nut, betel leaves, and naivedya (offerings). A lamp and a container of ghee are essential, as lighting the lamp is the beginning of the puja. According to Pandit Jha, the thali should be kept clean and fragrant, and decorating it with a red or yellow cloth is considered auspicious.
These items are essential.
Pandit Shatrughan Jha also explained that coconut, vermilion, fruits, and sweets are also essential in the Durga Puja thali. Especially during the nine-day Navratri festival, placing seasonal fruits and dry fruits on the plate is considered auspicious. Furthermore, incense sticks, agarbatti, and camphor should also be arranged on the plate, as the puja is considered incomplete without them.
A small bowl of Ganga water should be placed on the plate, and before beginning the puja, the plate should be placed in front of Goddess Durga and offered with chanting. There should also be space on the plate for applying a tilak of sandalwood or agarbatti to the idol or kalash of the goddess.
The Puja Plate Has Special Significance
The astrologer said that each item on the puja plate has its own spiritual significance. For example, rice grains symbolize integrity and devotion, roli and kumkum signify auspiciousness, while the lamp symbolizes energy and light. Coconut is considered a symbol of perfection, and fruits and sweets are offered to the goddess as offerings.

Incense sticks and incense purify the atmosphere and bring concentration to the devotee. If the puja plate is prepared with reverence, devotion, and purity, then Mother Durga gets pleased quickly and blesses the devotee with happiness, peace, and prosperity.
