Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a major leap for public healthcare, MY Hospital has become the first government hospital in the state to be equipped for the detection and management of blood clotting in real time, thanks to the installation of the ROTEM Delta Viscoelastic Testing Machine.
The machine was officially inaugurated on Saturday in the Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion, which is affiliated with the MGM Medical College. The ROTEM Delta is a sophisticated diagnostic device that measures clot formation, stability, and breakdown in blood.
It allows doctors to quickly assess coagulation issues and make timely, life-saving decisions, especially in critical care settings, such as trauma, surgeries, obstetrics, liver transplants, and sepsis cases. This cutting-edge technology is not yet available even in most private hospitals across the state.
Speaking at the event, Dr Ashok Yadav, Head of the Department and MY Hospital Superintendent, highlighted the machine’s role in managing trauma-induced coagulopathy (TIC) and other complex bleeding disorders.
“The ROTEM Delta will help us make accurate and rapid decisions about blood transfusions, improve patient outcomes, and reduce unnecessary treatments,” he said.
Dr Arvind Ghanghoria, Dean of MGM Medical College, said, “Our vision is to make MY Hospital the most advanced and patient-friendly healthcare facility in the state. With this new addition, we’re one step closer.”
The inauguration ceremony was graced by staff members and dignitaries, including Member of Parliament Shankar Lalwani and local MLA Golu Shukla.
