Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MP Transco) has successfully completed the long-pending installation of OPGW (Optical Fiber Ground Wire) on the 400 kV double circuit transmission line connecting the Sant Singaji Thermal Power Plant (Khandwa) to Pithampur. This project, delayed due to serious Right of Way (ROW) issues, was completed with the active support of the Khargone district administration.
This technical achievement not only secures the transmission line against lightning strikes but also paves the way for high-speed data transmission. MP Transco’s Superintending Engineer, Mrs. Neelam Khanna, stated that the work had been pending for five years due to severe ROW problems in a 4-kilometer stretch passing through the villages of Satajana and Kalbarad in Sanawad Tehsil of Khargone district.
To complete this complex task, MP Transco officials maintained constant coordination with district and police authorities. The installation was carried out in the presence of Tehsildar Mr. Mukesh Machar, Naib Tehsildar Mr. Praveen Singh Chander, and the local police force.
MP Transco’s First Quad Moose Line:-
Mrs. Khanna further informed that this is MP Transco’s first 140-kilometer-long transmission line constructed using Quad Moose conductors. With the installation of OPGW, the transmission and data communication capabilities of the system have reached new heights. SCADA systems, remote operation of substations, transmission protection, and monitoring data will now be transmitted through a fast and reliable fiber optic medium instead of GSM. Additionally, the dark fiber available in this line can also be leased out to telecom companies.
Thanks to Khargone Administration:
Mrs. Neelam Khanna, Additional Chief Engineer of MP Transco, expressed gratitude to Khargone District Collector Mrs. Bhavya Mittal and the entire administration for their support in the successful execution of this critical project. She mentioned that due to ROW disputes, local citizens had repeatedly obstructed the work and, on several occasions, even assaulted Transco personnel. Despite these challenges, the firm stance and cooperation of the administration ensured the eventual successful completion of this much-awaited project.
