Singer and businesswoman Rihanna has lost her father, Ronald Fenty, who passed away early Saturday morning in Los Angeles at the age of 70 after a brief illness. An official cause of death has not yet been disclosed. According to Starcom Network News, family members have gathered in California to commemorate his life.
Earlier, photos obtained by Page Six showed Rihanna's brother, Rajad Fenty, arriving at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday to visit their father, Ronald Fenty. This visit came just days before Ronald’s passing, as the family stayed close during this difficult time.
Rihanna is yet to release an official statement.
Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley mourned the loss. Taking to her Instagram handle on Sunday morning, she penned a long emotional note that read, "It is with deep sorrow, that on behalf of the Government and people of Barbados, I extend my sincere condolences to our beloved National Hero, The Right Excellent Robyn Rihanna Fenty, on the passing of her father, Ronald Fenty."
"Ronald Fenty was a son of Barbadian soil, whose life story reflected the resilience and spirit of our nation. While he may be known for playing a significant role in shaping the woman our National Hero Rihanna has become, the truth is that his journey here on earth has touched many more lives."
She mentioned that Ronald was a father, a friend, a neighbour, and a proud Barbadian, whose journey was marked by challenges but also by love, growth, and a strong bond with the people and place that shaped him.

"To Rihanna, her mother Monica, her brothers Rorrey, Rajad and Jamie, sisters Kandy and Samantha, and all members of the Fenty family, I offer my deepest sympathies. I equally extend my condolences to Ronald’s friends and loved ones, both here in Barbados and abroad," added Mia.
Rihanna and Ronald shared a troubled relationship over the years.
In 2019, the Umbrella singer sued her father, Ronald, accusing him of exploiting her name by creating a company called Fenty Entertainment without her permission.
