As of June 30, 2025, TCS reported a total headcount of 6,13,069 employees, with a net addition of 5,000 during the April–June quarter. Despite this increase, the company is pushing forward with strategic workforce reshaping.

According to an official statement, TCS said the layoffs are part of its broader transformation into a “future-ready” organisation. This transformation includes significant investment in emerging technologies, widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), expansion into new global markets, deepening of key partnerships, and revamping its infrastructure and operating model.
