Kolkata: As mentioned by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from a public rally on July 21, Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Sunday had started ‘Bhasha Andolan’ across the state.
Notably, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to hit the streets on July 28 at Bolpur in Birbhum district.
Addressing a mass gathering at Cooch Behar in North Bengal, TMC minister Udayan Guha urged people to fight more against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s divisive politics.
“Bengali language and Bengali ‘Ashmita’ are our pride. BJP is trying to play with it as they are anti-Bengali. Initially, BJP played divisive politics over religion and then they understood that dividing people on religious lines will not help to form a government in Bengal. Now, they are against the Bengali language and in BJP ruled states the Bengali speaking migrant workers are being harassed,” said Guha.
Similar mass gatherings were also seen at various parts of Kolkata.
On the other hand, the West Bengal government had launched a WhatsApp-only helpline number to help the alleged harassed Bengali speaking migrant workers at the earliest.
TMC minister Manas Bhunia said that TMC workers are in touch with the families of the migrant workers.

Both from the party level and government level initiatives are taken so that they can be brought back to the state,” added Bhunia.
Slamming the ‘Bhasha Andolan’, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari stated that it is a ‘drama’ to stop Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
“Mamata Banerjee is a protector of Bangladeshi Muslims and Rohingyas as a ‘chunk’ of them are voters of Mamata Banerjee and TMC. But SIR will happen in Bengal,” added Adhikari.
