Mumbai: A dreadful case of animal barbarism has surfaced near Saibaba Mandir, Kurar Village, Malad East, where a local chaiwala (tea vendor) allegedly poured boiling water on an innocent street dog sitting near his stall. The dog sustained severe burns and is presently undergoing treatment.

Eyewitnesses said that the dog was simply lying in the corner when the tea seller, for reasons unexplained, attacked it with hot water. The incident has stimulated widespread outrage among inhabitants and animal welfare groups.

Senior Police Inspector and an animal lover, Sudhir Kudalkar, said he will personally speak to Senior Police Inspector Sanjiv Tawde of Kurar Police Station, Malad East. He has confirmed that an FIR will be registered tonight.

“This is nothing short of brutality. If we call ourselves human, we must act like it. Burning an innocent dog is a horrific act, and it must not go unpunished. We will pursue justice and ensure this doesn't get buried or ignored,” he stated in his post on Instagram.
