Friends, in today's modern era, it is very important to have a bank account for online transactions, your bank account is used for various important tasks like getting benefits of government schemes, managing children's school payments or handling personal or business finances. Banks play an important role in managing money efficiently. Many people either neglect their bank accounts or are unaware of the rules and responsibilities associated with them. Making mistakes can freeze your account, let's know about these mistakes-
KYC not updated
Know Your Customer (KYC) is a mandatory compliance requirement.
As per RBI guidelines, KYC should be updated once every 2 to 3 years, depending on the type of account.
Not updating KYC may result in your account being temporarily frozen or completely closed.
Always respond to bank notifications and visit your branch or update online when prompted.
Suspicious transactions
Large or unusual transactions, especially money coming from abroad or high-value international purchases, can ring alarm bells.
If the source of funds is unclear or unspecified, the bank may freeze your account for investigation.
To avoid this, always keep proof or records of such transactions and inform your bank in advance if a large amount is expected.
No activity for over 2 years
If there are no transactions (credit or debit) for two years, the account may be marked as inactive or dormant.
This applies to savings accounts, current accounts, and even zero-balance accounts.
Keep your account active by making at least one small transaction every few months.
Sudden large deposits without any explanation
If lakhs or crores of rupees suddenly appear in your account without any clear source or documentation, it can be a matter of serious concern.
This may lead to immediate freezing of the account.
In such cases, contact your bank immediately and provide the necessary documents to prove the validity of the deposit.
