Friends, after the scorching heat, the monsoon has provided relief to the people of the country and if reports are to be believed, for the first time since 2020, the southwest monsoon has reached many parts of the country ahead of schedule. On June 29, 2025, the IMD confirmed that the monsoon has advanced into Rajasthan, the remaining parts of western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and has covered the entire Delhi-NCR region, let us know the heavy rains in the states-
Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in various parts of northwest, central, eastern and northeastern India in the next seven days. The IMD has advised citizens, especially farmers and travelers, to remain alert.
East UP and North Bihar may receive torrential rains in the next 3-4 days.
A red alert has been issued for parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
There is a danger of flood-like situation in Bihar due to continuous heavy rains.
Thunderstorms with lightning are also likely - people are advised to take safety measures.
Rivers are in spate; landslides have disrupted travel.
Several roads have been closed and travellers have been halted at safer places.
A red alert has been issued for Uttarakhand due to potential hazards.
States experiencing heavy rains
Uttar Pradesh: Rainfall recorded in Farrukhabad, Kanpur Nagar, Lakhimpur Kheri (eastern UP); Agra and Bijnor (western UP)
Madhya Pradesh: Heavy rain in Gwalior, Naradapuram, Bhopal
Jharkhand: Intermittent heavy rains are lashing Jamshedpur and other areas.
Other states: Odisha, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Andaman and Nicobar Islands will receive moderate to heavy rainfall from June 29 to July 2.
West Bengal: Very heavy rain is likely over Gangetic plains between June 30 and July 5.
Himalayan Region: Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and UP.
Southern and Northeastern States: Heavy rainfall with gusty winds (40-50 kmph) is likely at some places over Goa, Maharashtra (Ghat region), Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala and Mahe.
Below Normal Temperatures: Recorded over West UP, East Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and parts of Jharkhand.
Significant fall: Minimum temperature of 0.0°C was recorded in Bhiwani, Haryana, which is the lowest in the Indian plains.
Southern and Northeastern Regions: Above normal temperatures were recorded over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and some areas over Jammu & Kashmir-Ladakh despite rain.
