Beauty queen 'Miss Europe' dies after slipping off bridge while 'fleeing police' on night out

A young catwalk model who won a Miss Europe title has tragically died after falling 50ft from a bridge and crashing onto a motorway whilst fleeing police. Güler Erdogan, 27, was reportedly more than three times the legal limit for alcohol when she tried to drive home after a night out in Giresun, Turkey, on April 1.

Güler, who was crowed "Miss Europe-Kosovo" ran into police at a checkpoint, where a breathalyser test was carried out and found she had a blood alcohol level of 1.70mg/100ml. Knowing she would be in trouble, the model fled her car and escaped on foot before heading towards an overpass. She then lost her balance, tumbled over the edge and was hit by an oncoming car on the six-lane motorway.

Emergency services quickly arrived on scene where Güler was pronounced dead shortly after. Turkish police have now launched an investigation into the circumstances behind the horror incident, CNN Turkey reports.

Güler was a popular beauty pageant winner signed to several big names as a model. All of her posts have been removed and replaced with a statement from her family reading: "Do not believe the false news and information regarding the death of our daughter, sister, and friend Güler Erdoğan. Our sister lost her life as a result of a tragic accident. As her family, we were by her side at the time of the incident."

It comes after Australian model and DJ Courtney Mills died at the age of 37 after falling from a balcony on January 10. Courtney was in Kuta, Bali on holiday when she suffered the fall. She had been visiting her two on the island when she fell from the balcony and suffered critical injuries. The DJ was rushed to hospital and tragically died a few days later.

Her family rushed to her bedside, and she underwent several operations before her tragic passing. Courtney lived in Bali for several years but ended up moving back to Melbourne and living with hr parents. Paying tribute to their daughter, her mum Diane Mayne told Nine News: "She was beautiful, big hearted, happy and go lucky."
