Coronation Street fans 'realise who's targeting Lauren' as two characters 'team up'

A blackmail twist is rumbling on on , and now fans think they have it cracked.

Lauren Bolton has been getting some sinister messages from a mystery person who is prepared to expose her secret. Lauren and pal Betsy Swain were caught up in a crash last week after stealing Tracy Barlow's florist van.

After the car was damaged, Lauren feared she would be in trouble with the law once more. With her baby son Frankie in hospital and her care recently questions, Lauren panicked what would happen to him if she did face trouble.

Betsy knew this and decided to cover for her friend, pretending to be the one driving. She told Lauren to flee the scene, and claimed to officers she was on her own.

Of course Betsy's mother Lisa Swain was confused by this given Betsy's arm was in a sling due to her recent gunshot injury. The police officer attending the scene also questioned Betsy before telling Lisa about the blonde girl who was with her daughter at the crash site, while Betsy continued to deny this.

In the fallout someone began messaging Lauren claiming to know the truth about the incident, and that she was driving. Saying her lies "would cost her", the messenger revealed they had photographic proof that Lauren was behind the wheel and caused the crash.

They seemed to know that Lauren had avoided trouble and Betsy had taken the blame, but that Lauren was to blame. Viewers now think they know who is targeting Lauren with the messages.

While initial suspicions suggested Lisa was to blame trying to get a confession to help Betsy, fans now think it's one of two characters who are targeting Lauren. Some fans wondered if the characters were both out to get her amid news scenes showing Lauren setting a trap.

Other fans believed it was either of the named suspects, working alone. Viewers decided it was either Betsy herself or Bobby Crawford, who Lauren has suspected, that will be revealed as the messenger.

One fan said: "I think it’s Bobby, he’s doing it so she will rely on him more and he can wriggle his way back in with her." Another said: "When Lauren stole the van is it my imagination or was Bobby loitering outside the flats," as a third added: "Bobby is the one messaging Lauren."

Another post read: "I thought I saw someone it could have been Bobby I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him he asked Lauren questions like what is the matter I think that he saw her go in the cafe and followed her he's really creepy and not very nice person if he could blackmail her like that he's playing his games again like when Roy needed help or it could have been Tracy."

As for Betsy, one fan predicted: "Maybe it's Betsy herself blackmailing Lauren," as another agreed: "Betsy pls don’t be the one blackmailing." As for the theory the pair are teaming up, a comment read: "Unless her and Bobby are conspiring."
