Genius Game viewers make same complaint just minutes into new ITV show

ITV's new series Genius Game debuted tonight, with challenging 11 contestants to take on a number of complicated challenges for the chance to win money. However, it seems as though you need to be a genius just to watch the new show if viewer complaints are anything to go by.

Viewers have taken to social media to make the same complaint about the brand new show, with many complaining that the rules are too complicated to follow at home. Based on a Korean show, Genius Game will see the contestants take on 12 rounds of games, with one player eliminated after each round.

In the first episode, the players took on the Gold Heist - where they were given the chance to steal money from imaginary vaults of their choice. However, if too many of the players went for the same vault, they end up in jail and frozen out of the game.

Viewers took to social media to share their confusion with the rules of the first game, with one tweeting: "Anyone else absolutely flubberflustered with the rules?? #GeniusGame." A second wrote on X: "Trying to keep up with what's going on in #GeniusGame."

A third said: "Are we supposed to know what's happening #GeniusGame." While a fourth wrote: "I’m guessing that no one at bothered to consider whether they were making things waaaaaay too complicated for the audience to actually follow?? "

It's been a big week on ITV for David Tennant fans, with the star also taking part in The Assembly - a series which sees celebrities interviewed by individuals who are autistic, neurodivergent or learning disabled.

The star left viewers in tears during one moving moment, where the group of interviewers performed The Proclaimers' Sunshine on Leith for David. The actor looked visibly moved and also joined in to dance with them.

One fan expressed: "David looked genuinely moved there. I'm actually tearing up!" while another remarked: "Well you can't go wrong with #SunshineonLeith or with #DavidTennant. Pass me the tissues."

A different viewer confessed: "Well now I'm sobbing on a Sunday evening," with another chiming in: "I was due a cry anyway."

Genius Game continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
