A man has died after suffering gunshot wounds and a woman is in hospital following a shooting at a UK park.
The Met Police said officers rushed to an incident that took place in Clissold Park, Stoke Newington, north London, shortly after 7pm this evening. Paramedics treated both a man and woman, both aged in their 40s, at the scene before they were taken to hospital where the male was pronounced dead. The current condition of the woman is not known, added the force.
A statement from the Met Police read: "Officers responded to reports of a shooting in Clissold Park, N16 at 19:06hrs on Wednesday, 17 September.

"A woman in her 40s was treated by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance. She was taken to hospital, where she remains and we await an update on her condition.
"A man in his 40s also received treatment for gunshot wounds. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was later pronounced deceased at hospital. Enquiries are ongoing to identify his next of kin."
Police also said a gun was found at the park, with the statement adding: "A firearm which is believed to be involved in the incident was safely recovered at the scene."
Detective Superintendent Oliver Richter, who is responsible for policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, said police believe the two people involved in the incident where known to each other and it is being treated as an "isolated incident".
He said: “We understand this is a deeply distressing incident for those involved, the witnesses in the park and the community in the surrounding area.
“We are in the early stages of the investigation, but we believe the man and woman are known to one another and at this time, we are treating it as an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.
“Officers are working at pace to establish the full circumstances of the incident and will continue to support those who are affected. A crime scene remains in place for investigation with an increased police presence.”
