Katherine Ryan has expressed "remorse" after repeatedly mentioning Gousto recipe boxes on Sunday Brunch, according to an Ofcom report. The comedian appeared on the show to promote her partnership with the recipe box brand - however, Ofcom has ruled that the number of mentions went beyond what can be "editorially justified".
Ofcom went on to resolve its investigation after Channel 4 said that it had given its staff "further training", with the broadcaster saying that the presenters "were transparent about Ms. Ryan's commercial connection with Gousto".
Channel 4 added that "repeated references to Gousto were unsolicited, unscripted, spontaneous, outside the scope of the agreed contribution and clearly not part of the editorial intent" and that after being spoken to by a member of the editorial team, she "expressed remorse at having strayed from the agreed script".

They said, as reported by : "She gave her assurances that there would be no more mentions of Gousto in the programme."
The broadcaster admitted that while "ideally Ms Ryan would have been interrupted earlier", that is difficult to do in a live setting.
"The timing of any intervention can be in the moment a difficult judgement-call for both gallery and presenter (and) any explanation, apology or further reference to the brand could have exacerbated the situation," they said.
Channel 4 added that it takes compliance with the code "extremely seriously" and that refresher training has been given by Channel 4's legal and compliance department to the team and Channel 4 editorial staff.
Ofcom said: "We recognised the swift actions of the programme producers and presenter during the live segment, followed by the discussion with the guest during the subsequent advertisement break.
"We also took into account the additional references to Gousto were minimal, in the context of the overall programme, unscripted and wholly unexpected by the production team and presenters at the time of broadcast.
"Ofcom acknowledges that despite extensive preparation to ensure compliance with the Code."
Katherine Ryan has been approached for comment.

She said on her podcast: "I showed Bobby and that was my biggest mistake. He was like, 'What?! A blood test!?' And I was like, you know what though Bobby, if it saves your life, then that's very little. I just think you can't be too careful with this stuff. I'm very lucky to have access to this kind of thing."
