The hot summer weathermight bring much-needed vitamin D, but also attracts unwanted guests flying around your home or garden.
If you’re afraid of wasps unfortunately you’ll see them more often as they come out in search of food - but there’s a way to at least get rid of them from your immediate space.
Although wasps can be beneficial for pollination and pest control, they can also be disturbing. Buglifereported approximately 9,000 species of wasps in the UK.
Unlike bees, wasps are more aggressive towards humans and they can sting repeatedly if they feel threatened.
As long as you’re not dealing with a giant wasp nest, there's an easy and unharmful method to drive wasps away from your outdoor spaces. According to Clancy Bros Pest Control, this can be fixed with planting some mint.

The site said: “Mint is a great way to keep wasps and hornets away. You can plant it in your garden or in pots around your home. Their strong scent is the reason why they don’t like it and it will keep them away.”
Not only that, by planting mint in the garden, it will also keep other pests away, such as rats and ants. To do so, keep a plant mint in areas where these pests usually hang around.
However, if you rather use a stronger scent, use peppermint oil. As wasps hate the strong smell, you can rest assured that they won’t be coming near your home. Using a cotton ball soaked in this oil, the site said to put it in the areas where you’ve seen wasps and hornets.

But if you don’t have any plant mint or peppermint oil around your place, cinnamon and cloves also work wonders. It’s good to try different options and see what works best without harming these insects.
These remedies aren’t only cost-effective, but they deliver the results. Gardeners can easily find these ingredients in any local store or supermarket. However, if you’re scared to deal with them, the safest way is to get professional help.
They added: “Pest control companies have the right equipment and knowledge to get rid of these pests. They will also be able to give you advice on how to keep wasps and hornets away from your home in the future.”
