In a shocking incident on Diwali in Bhind, Madhya Pradesh, a Dalit truck driver was kidnapped, brutally beaten, and forced to drink urine by three men. The accused have been arrested and sent to jail, while the case has drawn attention from state officials.
Victim SpeaksThe victim, Gyan Singh Jatav, was attacked after he refused to drive a truck for the perpetrators. According to police, the incident occurred in the Surpura police station area, where Jatav had a dispute with three men over driving. They allegedly abducted him in a Bolero vehicle, beat him severely, and forced him to drink urine before taking him back to his village and abandoning him.
Political and Administrative ResponseFollowing instructions from Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Renewable Energy Minister Rakesh Shukla visited the Bhind District Hospital on Tuesday and spoke with the victim for about 30 minutes. Leaders from the Bhim Army and Azad Samaj Party also visited the police station, demanding strict action.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Pathak immediately initiated a preliminary investigation. The accused were arrested, presented in court, and sent to jail.
Brutal Details of the AssaultGyan Singh Jatav, a resident of Deendayal Nagar, said the attackers—Sonu Barua (Surpura village), Alok Sharma (Datawali village), and Chhotu (Bhind town)—came to his home, kidnapped him, and beat him with a pipe on the way to Bhind. He was forced to drink urine at Semarpura turn and was beaten again in Surpura village before being abandoned.
This incident has sparked outrage, highlighting issues of caste-based violence and the need for stricter action to protect marginalized communities.
