Indian fashion designer Rohit Bal has passed away. He was 63 years old. He died in a private hospital in Delhi after suffering a heart attack. His health deteriorated after a show in October and he was then admitted to the hospital. Rohit was in the ICU before the show.
We are deeply saddened by the demise of legendary designer Rohit Bal. He was a founding member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). His blend of traditional patterns and modern designs made him unique. His legacy of art, innovation, and forward-thinking will always remain in the world of fashion, said Sunil Sethi, Chairman of, the Fashion Design Council of India.
Within a short period, Rohit made his mark in the fashion world. According to reports, Rohit underwent angioplasty in February 2010. He was featured in the 2006 Indian Fashion Awards and the 2001 Kingfisher Fashion Achievement Awards. Born in Srinagar, Rohit Bal started his career in 1986. He was one of the most famous fashion designers in the country.
Rohit Bal's designs were linked to the culture and history of India. He also received the 'Designer of the Year' award at the Indian Fashion Awards in 2006. In 2012, he was also selected as the Lakme Grand Finale designer.
