US Election Results: American voters rejected Kamala Harris, who called Donald Trump a 'threat to democracy'. In the 2024 presidential election, real issues outweighed any virtual threat warning.
US Presidential Election 2024 Results: Donald Trump is a threat to America, to America's democracy, to the peace of the world... In the last few months, Kamala Harris has repeatedly shown this fear to convince the public to vote in her favour. She kept presenting Trump as a 'villain' and herself as a 'hero' saving the villain. But on Wednesday, when the results of the 2024 US presidential election came, the fear shown by Kamala Harris vanished. The public has rejected the cry of 'democracy is in danger' and sent Trump to the White House again after four years. But why? The truth of electoral politics is hidden in the answer to this question.
Trump's victory is beyond fear!
60-year-old Harris had to come to the front in the election race after President Joe Biden withdrew. As the candidate of the Democratic Party, she promised 'a new generation of leadership' as compared to 78-year-old Trump. Being a black and the child of Indian immigrants was a plus point for Kamala. The Democrats knew that the staunch Trump supporters would never change sides, so they targeted the centrist voters and Republican voters unhappy with Trump.
After winning the presidential election, Donald Trump addressed the American people.
Kamala Harris repeatedly reminded people of Trump's tenure of four years ago in her campaign. She repeatedly vowed, 'We are not going back to that era.' Since Kamala did not have much time to project herself, she directly started questioning Trump's candidature. She made many promises: she will control the prices of houses, control inflation, bring marginalized groups into the mainstream, etc. But Kamala probably forgot at that time that the current administration belongs to her party, not Trump.
The hope of livelihood outweighed the fear
During the Biden administration, inflation in America reached its peak. Due to Covid-19, factories were shut down and jobs were in danger. The condition of the middle class and working class started deteriorating. When the pandemic subsided, rising house rents and grocery bills made people worried. On top of that, state after state was hit by natural disasters. But instead of extending a helping hand to the public, the Biden administration was seen sending huge amounts of money to Ukraine. The public kept tolerating all this.
When Kamala's candidature was announced in place of Biden, a ray of hope arose. A large part of the American public felt that Kamala would spread hope like Barack Obama in this period of despair. Kamala's direct entry into the election season and her initial few days of campaigning made her very popular among women, blacks and other minority groups, but there was a huge difference between her words and the ground reality.
The public was fed up with four years of Republican rule. In interviews with the media, many voters also said that they do not see any hope for the future. Kamala was repeatedly calling Trump a threat to America while Trump was promising to solve the problems of the common American.
Trump prevailed over Kamala
Trump's campaign wooed the rural and working-class voters who helped him reach the White House in 2016. Trump's rhetoric also appealed to men who have been left behind by changing cultural norms and technological advances. Trump would reminisce about the early days of his previous term, mention the 2017 tax cut, and this time he vowed to reduce taxes even further.
The American public saw an alternative in Trump. An alternative that would take them out of the era of inflation, unemployment and mass despair. Trump emerged victorious in 2024 because the American public is hungry for action, not words.
