Plenty of gardeners will know the pain of spending hours tending to the lawn, only for it to end up patchy and damaged. Whether it's dogs digging up the grass or kids play causing damage, it's a frustrating predicament - but one that can be solved with the right grass seed solution.
Shoppers can get 5kg of GardenersDream Premium Hard Wearing Grass Seed for £32.49 which covers up to 300m2 for overseeding. The fast-growing, hard-wearing lawn seed creates a thick and hardy lawn designed to withstand wear and tear throughout the year.
Simply sow in warm, moist soil for the best results, which should see grass seeds begin to sprout in around 5-10 days - it's ideal for overseeding and repairing bare patches as well as establishing new lawns. The seed blend includes 70% Lolium Perennial Rye Grass and 30% Strong Creeping Red Fescue, and is tailored to the UK climate.

If this doesn't look quite right, gardeners could also try the Westland Gro-Sure Smart Grass Seed which costs £29.99 for 3.2kg, from Screwfix, covering 80m2. The special formula is designed to withstand underwatering, keeps working for the whole season, and is great for patches, full sun and shady areas alike.
Alternatively, Boston Seeds' BS Quality Hard Wearing Lawn Seed is £23 for 5kg which covers 100m2 of lawn. It's said to be easy to establish year-round and suitable for most soil types, using the toughest varieties of seed to help lawns recover.
However, the GardenersDream grass seed has a high 4.2 star rating on Amazon. One shopper said: "Fantastic seed. Germinated in 4 days and hasn't stopped growing since. Amazing quality and colour. I can't believe the results. Preparation, water and sunlight are key to success with seeding but the product is great."
Another said: "This grass seed is brilliant. It germinated in under two weeks. I sprinkled it generously on the bare patches, then sprinkled some potting compost on top and raked it all together. It's only been a few weeks and the grass is green and we have cut it twice on a high cut. Would definitely recommend it!"
A third added: "Amazing stuff! Very quick results and super green lush grass."
Some shoppers warned that users need to be careful with application, with one reviewer writing: "Well, it's been over 3 weeks since I spread two of the sacks of seeds. I agree with another poster, birds have had a field day and enjoyed the seeds! Also yes, the sacks come in one large box, unlabeled with no instructions. So one needs to know what to do with the seed, or Google instructions. Me? I just scattered the stuff and hoped for the best. Wrong idea lol. The first two scatterings only produced minimal amount of blades. Am guessing the birds saw to that!"
Another said: "Initial results are patchy. This takes better where amongst existing grass than on bare patches, so I've had to reorder and reapply where the bare patches were, whilst the rest of the lawn is looking beautifully lush, thick and green. But the wisps are now starting to show where the bare patches were, so fingers crossed I've bought my last bag now. Really strong fine blades so would recommend, but patience is a must."
However, with proper application, the GardenersDream Premium Hard Wearing Grass Seed might be perfect for repairing patchy lawns.
