The United States is sending about 200 troops to Israel to help support and monitor the ceasefire deal in Gaza as part of a team that includes partner nations, nongovernmental organisations and private-sector players, US officials said on Thursday.
Members of the armed forces of Egypt, Qatar, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates are expected to be embedded with the team of 200 US troops, according to one of the officials. The UK's Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, confirmed this morning that no British troops would be deployed in the region to monitor the peace.
Israel's Cabinet approved President Donald Trump's plan for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of all the remaining hostages held by Hamas on Friday.
