Kate Winslet's former residence has hit the market with a £600,000 price tag. The extraordinary Japanese-inspired dwelling was the Titanic star's home for three years. She utilised The Pole House as her retreat between 1998 and 2001.
The 49-year-old actress purchased it shortly after her breakthrough performance in the epic film, captivated by its distinctive architecture. This remarkable property, crafted by celebrated architect Barrie Briscoe, is built from birch, pine, cedar and American redwood, elevated on massive Douglas fir supports.
According to Luxury Property News, the dwelling is in Angarrack village, Cornwall, close to the shores of St Ives Bay.
The property description reads: "The open-plan main living room features a striking double-height vaulted beam ceiling and the sturdy timber poles central to the home's design. This spacious area includes a sitting room and a kitchen with a wood-burning stove as a central feature. Toward the rear, there are two bedrooms."
Rob Pavis, the current owner of the property along with his wife, Heather, expressed: "We have been custodians of The Pole House for nearly a decade and have relished our time in the home. Having resided in a traditional timber-framed house in Japan for several years, it was our aspiration to find a home with similar attributes when we relocated back to the UK.
"We never imagined that we would stumble upon a Japanese Pole House, let alone in our dream location near St Ives. We were incredibly fortunate. It is a unique property in that it is as practical as it is aesthetically pleasing."
