'Masterpiece' thriller with the 'biggest plot twist of the century' now streaming on Prime

There are certain directors and actors that, when their names appear in the credits, you already know the film is going to be special. Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are one of those pairings. The duo have created some of the most memorable films of the last few decades. Among their many collaborations is a film that has been described as "one of the greatest psychological thrillers ever made".

The movie was released in 2010 and immediately became a box office success, grossing nearly $295 million worldwide. It also gave Scorsese his highest-grossing opening weekend at the time and went on to be named one of the top 10 films of the year by the National Board of Review.

That film is Shutter Island. Set in 1954, it follows US Marshal Edward "Teddy" Daniels, played by DiCaprio, as he travels to Ashecliffe Hospital for the criminally insane to investigate the disappearance of a patient.

Alongside his partner, portrayed by Mark Ruffalo, Teddy soon discovers that the island hides secrets more disturbing than he could have imagined.

Movie fans keep getting blown away by the film to this day with many saying the atmosphere, storytelling, and the shocking twist at the end is only something Scorsese could come up with.
