A woman has died in a hotel in a major UK city with police swooping on the scene and guests being told 'not to leave their rooms'. The reports emergency services were called to Lord Nelson Hotel on at around 1.40pm on Friday April 11 after receiving a report that a woman had been found unconscious inside.
Merseyside Police confirmed emergency services attended the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead. An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and the cause of her death. A massive police presence could be seen outside the hotel during Saturday afternoon, with multiple police cars and vans .
Forensic officers in white suits were seen going in and out of the hotel, while part of the street was cordoned off by police.
A number of people residing at the hotel reported being told not to leave their rooms. One woman said that residents on the top floor of the three-storey building had been told to stay inside.
Another man, who lived on the second floor, said he had been told he was not allowed to go back into his room, and had no idea when he would be able to get back inside.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Lord Nelson Hotel is currently being used as a community-based residential house. The hotel was cordoned off by police as enquiries inside the building took place.

The Lord Nelson Hotel is close to Liverpool's Lime Street Station, the main rail terminal into the city, and close to the O2 Academy music venue.
The hotel has previously been in the news after it was reported millionaire heiress Paris Hilton once stayed there when visiting Liverpool in April 2008 when she came to watch her then boyfriend Benji Madden's band Good Charlotte.
