An American Airlines pilot has shared the most stunning sight he's ever witnessed from the cockpit - in a "breathtakingly gorgeous" UK territory. Steve Scheibner, who flies for the carrier, divulged this in a recent video on his YouTube channel, , which has garnered a whopping 443,000 subscribers.

In the clip, where Captain Steve aimed to dispel some common myths, he was prompted to reveal the most beautiful vista he's encountered. The seasoned pilot didn't hesitate with his response.

Describing it as "so easy" to choose one memory, Steve recalled an unforgettable experience during his Navy service when he was flying near a "gorgeous" area and noticed a "bunch of dolphins" frolicking beneath him. Yet, Steve had to set the record straight about the exact location of this picturesque spot.

Despite its geographical proximity to mainland , it is actually a British Overseas Territory, inhabited by British nationals.

He clarified: "We were flying out of Gibraltar in...no, Gibraltar is not in Spain, so I don't want to hear about it in the comments. I know it belongs to the UK, but it's at the bottom of Spain is where Gibraltar is located, and it's an absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous place."

Drawing a parallel, Captain Steve mentioned The Prudential Insurance Company's emblem, which features . He remarked that the real thing "looks just like that" and highlighted the unique runway that "goes out into the ocean".

Captain Steve reminisced: "I was in the Navy and flying out, and as we're turning out over the open ocean, the Rock of Gibraltar's on one side, and directly underneath of us was a submarine just heading out to sea on the surface.

"And there was a bunch of dolphins just jumping in the wake. Oh, I wish I'd had a camera to take a picture. It was just absolutely gorgeous."

Perched on the south tip of the Iberian peninsula, Gibraltar's status is complex, blending presence and historical claims. The BBC reports that Spain asserts sovereignty over the area, yet Britain has ruled since 1713.

Gibraltar, an important naval base situated near the vital shipping lane of the Strait of Gibraltar, manages its own internal affairs. At the same time, the UK Government handles its defence and foreign affairs.

The Rock of Gibraltar is 426 metres tall, roughly 50 metres higher than the roof of the Empire State Building in the US. For this reason, it is strategically important, and radar equipment is placed atop the summit.

In addition to dolphins, Gibraltar is home to various other animal species, including Barbary macaques, Europe's sole wild monkey population, believed to have been brought to the territory by the Moors.
