Queen Camilla's first words after Princess Diana's bombshell Panorama interview have finally been revealed. The late Princess shocked the world in 1995 when she appeared in a Panorama interview with Martin Bashir and opened up about Camilla's part to play in the breakdown of her marriage to the then Prince Charles.
She claimed there were "three people in the marriage", as she then admitted to having her own extramarital relationships and discussed her heartache about the marriage coming to an end. The interview was watched by a record-breaking 23 million Brits, with cameras racing to Camilla's home in Wiltshire, where she was seen going for a ride on her horse with several companions.
Despite the huge scandal happening in her life, Camilla was determined to put on a brave face and not discuss the interview on camera.
In a new Channel 5 series, called Lip-Reading The Royals: The Secret Conversations, lipreading expert Nicola Hickling revealed that Camilla appeared to say to her companion about her horse: "It's true, I like to tap her on the side," as she then demonstrated it.
TalkTV star Cristos Foufas reacted: "She's not talking about it at all, she's not saying I've been implicated in the highest rated TV interview of all time about the breakdown of the marriage of the future King of England. But not Camilla, she is talking about the horse."
Royal historian Dr Tessa Dunlop added that Camilla's determination to stay stoic about the drama "just speaks of her appeal to Charles", as the King would have appreciated her keep calm and carry on attiude.
Following Princess Diana's tragic death in 1997, Camilla and Charles went public with their romance in 1999, and were pictured leaving The Ritz after attending Camilla's sister's birthday party together.
As the pair got into the car together in front of 200 photographers, Nicola claimed that Charles said to Camilla: "I think that all went very well".
Camilla and Charles went on to marry in 2005 in Windsor, with Prince Harry and William, as well as Queen Elizabeth and King Phillip attending.
Lip-Reading The Royals: The Secret Conversations, Saturday 19th July, 7pm. Watch | Stream on 5.
