The Chase fans were forced to do a double take after spotting a striking similarity between a Chaser and one lucky player. During Tuesday's visit (July 15) to the ITV studios, Bradley Walsh welcomed four new hopefuls onto the teatime show. He introduced Carolen, Angus, Leah, and Adam to viewers at home before they put their general knowledge to the test.
The quartet went up against Anne 'The Governess' Hegery who certainly brought her A-game to the table. First up to the podium was Carolen who achieved a respectable £4,000 in the cash-builder round.
Things became a little more serious when she took on the pro-quizzer, but despite feeling the pressure, she managed to bank her winnings and secure her place in the final chase.
But viewers were forced to do a double take when civil service officer Angus stepped up to the plate in a suit and tie. The contestant, who moonlights as rugby player in his spare time, went on to share his plans to go to Australia if he wins anything from the show.
As he showed off his impressive general knowledge skills, raking in a staggering £8,000 in the cash-builder round, viewers flocked to X - formerly known as Twitter - to point out his striking similarity to two famous pro-quizzers Mark 'The Beast' Labbett and Richark Osman, who previously starred on the BBC teatime quiz show Pointless.
One user penned: "Looks half Beast half Richard Osman #TheChase" as another agreed: "'TheChase This is Mark Osman?" as a third echoed: "#thechase Angus and the beast."
Angus wowed viewers with his intellect after he banked his winnings and secured his position in the final chase. And it seems as though his winning streak affected the rest of the team, with Leah adding £4,000 and Adam adding an additional £6,000, bringing the totall to £22,000.
With a full team and an eye-watering sum in the jackpot, the group went into the final game feeling stronger than ever, but they failed to keep the momento going, resulting in just 18 questions correctly answered in two minutes.
Unfortunately, Anne returned to the table in ready for a fight and caught the team out with just seconds to spare, leaving them to go home empty-handed.
The Chase airs on weekdays from 5pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
