The original release of 's bombshell memoir Spare last year led many fans to expect more outrageous claims, however, the 40-year-old didn't appear to include many of his spoken claims in his book.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously made many claims via televised interviews and their Netflix docuseries.

and, surprisingly, includes no new material - including no fresh attacks towards his family.

Despite this, many of the accounts Harry did include in his book appeared to completely contradict previous admissions made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex themselves.

Here, looks at five of Harry's biggest contradictions in Spare.

During the couple's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Meghan revealed that she had experienced suicidal thoughts during her pregnancy with their son Archie, who is now aged five.

In this discussion, Meghan shared that, despite her stuggles, she was prevented from getting help.

The mother of two also opened up about thise during the couple's Netflix docuseries, claiming that whilst she wanted to get help, it "wasn't allowed" because of "how that would look for the institution".

At the time, Harry claimed that he "hated himself" for how he handled the situation and his wife's struggles. In Spare, Harry detailed how he found Meghan sobbing and telling him how she didn't want to live anymore. He, however, didn't share any details of Meghan wanting to seek help and the refusal of this.

In their Neflix docuseries, Harry detailed how Prince William "screamed and shouted" at him during the so-called Sandringham Summit.

The Summit - which took place in early 2020 - was reported called so the family could dicuss Meghan and Harry's decision to step down from duties, a meeting that ultimately decided that they couldn't be half-in and half-out.

It was, during this meeting, that William allegedly "screamed and shouted" at Harry.

However, Spare made no mention of this - with Harry only stating that his brother "complained about a story in the morning papers suggesting that he was the reason we were leaving".

Harry and Meghan previously told Oprah, in their interview in 2021, that they got married a few days prior to their official royal wedding on May 19, 2018.

Speaking of their wedding day, Meghan told Oprah: "You know, three days before our wedding, we got married. No one knows that."

She added: "But we called the archbishop and we just said, 'Look, this thing, this spectacle is for the world but we want our union between us.' So, the vows that we have framed in our room are just the two of us in our backyard with the archbishop of Canterbury."

However, in Spare, Harry clears up the confusion and that the ceremony in the garden was "unofficial, non-binding, except in our souls".

Back in 2017, following their engagement, Meghan and Harry sat down for a joint interview in which they claimed they were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend.

When asked whether it was a set-up, the former Suits actress said: "Yes, it was definitely a set-up - it was a blind date."

Fast foward to 2022, the couple spoke about their first date in their docuseries, which dropped on Netflix in December 2022. However the pair revealed they had actually FaceTimed before meeting in the flesh for the first time in London.

In Spare, Harry made no mention of them FaceTiming - only revealing that they had exchanged messages before their first date in 2016.

Recalling their first meeting, Harry shared that Meghan had worn a black sweatshirt, jeans and heels.

He adds that while he knows nothing about fashion, he referred to Meghan's style as "chic" - as well as describing her as "heart-attack beautiful".

Despite this, Meghan has previously revealed that she wore a blue dress for their first date in London.
