BENGALURU: Based on complaints that several bars and restaurants in the western part of the city were illegally employing women bartenders and engaging them in unlawful activities, 11 special police teams raided more than 40 bars and restaurants. They found women bartenders in 19 of them.
These bars were located in the jurisdiction of Upparpet, Cottonpet, Kalasipalya, Cubbon Park, and Ashoknagar.
"Besides wearing provocative dresses, the women bartenders from these 19 bars and restaurants were found standing near customers' tables in an indecent manner. Also, it was noticed that no female security guards were deployed to safeguard them," a press note from the city police commissioner's office read.
In addition, cops found these joints were running the business beyond permitted time, had no dedicated smoking zones, and lacked cleanliness.
