Guwahati: Assam Police on Monday arrested three persons in connection with the killing of two wild elephants at Manas National Park in Chirang district, and seized firearms, ammunition, walkie-talkies, and other poaching equipment.
The suspects, identified as Jabid Borgoyary, Mahesh Islary, and Jaran Basumatary, later assisted authorities in locating the two tusks removed from a male elephant. On Friday, forest patrol guards discovered the carcasses of the elephants near the India-Bhutan border in the Palengshi beat area of Panbari range. TNN
