Jaipur: Tonk SP Vikas Sangwan dissolved the entire district special team (DST) and shifted all its 11 team members, including the in-charge, to police lines over allegations of colluding with criminals and negligence of duty. The team, formed to tackle illegal narcotics, mining, gambling, and other criminal activities, is now under investigation following serious complaints about its functioning.
The team, led by sub-inspector Hariman Meena, was meant to operate as a frontline unit against crime in the district.
However, over the past few weeks, multiple complaints reached the SP, accusing some members of shielding those involved in illegal trade and hiding critical information from senior officers.
"Not all of them have allegations against them. The team was dissolved to ensure an impartial inquiry," said Niwai DSP Mrityunjay Mishra, who will handle the inquiry.
Sources said that some DST members were suspected of directly supporting criminal operations for personal benefits. These complaints, coupled with rising concerns about the team's lack of effectiveness, led SP Sangwan to initiate a detailed internal review.
