Chatra: A man was killed after his motorcycle hit a tree here on Monday. His wife and son, who were riding pillion, sustained injuries and were admitted to a hospital in Hazaribag in a critical condition.
The deceased was identified as Ranjit Sahu (32), a resident of Rajpur in Kanhachatti block. Sahu's bike hit a tree at Pitij Chowk near Bhurkunda forest. Sahu ran a mobile store in Itkhori. The family was returning from a wedding when the accident occurred.
Chatra MP Kalicharan Singh said, "Sahu was friendly, cheerful, and popular in Itkhori." Upon receiving information about the accident, Singh immediately informed the medical officer of Itkhori block hospital for assistance, but he succumbed to his injuries.
"Sahu's body was sent to Chatra sadar hospital for post-mortem," Abhishek Kumar Singh, officer in-charge of Itkhori police station, said.
