Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is visiting New Zealand to review the progress of negotiations on the proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA), signalling renewed momentum in bilateral trade talks.

Goyal will meet New Zealand’s Trade Minister Todd McClay in Auckland on November 5 to discuss ways to accelerate the ongoing FTA discussions, the commerce ministry said in a statement.

“The visit reflects the shared commitment of both countries to expedite the FTA process and build a more comprehensive and mutually beneficial economic partnership,” the ministry added.

The fourth round of India–New Zealand FTA negotiations began in Auckland on November 3, focused on strengthening trade and economic ties between the two countries.

During the visit, Goyal is also scheduled to participate in several engagements aimed at deepening cooperation in trade, investment, and innovation.

“These include a dedicated interaction with prominent members of the New Zealand business community and the visiting Indian business delegation, facilitating greater collaboration between the private sectors of both countries,” the ministry said.
