Vadodara: The city police, in coordination with the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), launched a drive on Saturday to remove encroachments from the old city area ahead of the festive rush.
Assistant commissioner of police M P Bhojani said the area is expected to witness heavy crowds for about two weeks, which has previously led to traffic congestion, accidents, and incidents like chain snatching and mobile theft.
The drive targeted street vendors and shops occupying streets or footpaths, while wrongly parked vehicles were also removed.
Authorities said the operation will continue in the coming days to ensure smooth movement and safety.
