Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated action thriller King, which also marks the big-screen debut of his daughter Suhana Khan, is reportedly facing a delay in production amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.
The film that will be directed by Siddharth Anand, was originally slated to go on floors this weekend, on May 16, 2025. However, escalating tensions and an atmosphere of uncertainty have reportedly prompted the makers to reconsider the timing and possibly delay their shoot.
"Despite the ceasefire, the situation remains sensitive and dynamic," a source close to the production revealed in statement to Mid-Day. "The team has been working towards a mid-May start, but given the prevailing climate, a slight delay would not be surprising. It would be wiser to begin filming when the atmosphere is more stable."
Prior to the tense political climate, the portal reported that Khan intended to delay the shoot until August as he was not fully satisfied with the script and requested further refinements. The report stated that the actor is taking particularl interest as it introduces his daughter Suhana to mainstream cinema. "He wants the story to be flawless," the report stated, while adding that the team is now eyeing a July–August production window.
This update comes amidst reports that several actors and filmmakers have opted to delay or postpone their film releases and other movie promotional material owing to the ongoing tensions. Last week, Kamal Haasan and Aamir Khan postponed major events of their films Thug Life and Sitaare Zameen Par, respectively.
While no shoots have been officially cancelled, uncertainty among producers and investors is growing.
King remains one of the highly anticipated films. The action film that will see SRK opposite Suhana for the first time will also star Abhishek Bachchan in a lead role.
