The match was played on the same pitch where Mumbai Indians had previously bowled out Kolkata Knight Riders for 116. After choosing to bowl first, the hosts effectively utilized the helpful conditions.

In the chase, Impact Substitute Rohit Sharma provided an early spark with three sixes, including two off Mohammed Shami and one off Pat Cummins , before falling to a low full-toss from Cummins.

Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks both survived close calls during their innings. Jacks was dropped by Travis Head, while Rickelton got a reprieve when a catch by Cummins was ruled invalid due to keeper Heinrich Klaasen's gloves being in front of the stumps.

Rickelton went on to score 31 off 23 balls, including three consecutive boundaries against Ehsan Malinga, before being caught by Head off Harshal Patel's bowling.

Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav formed a crucial 52-run partnership for the third wicket. Suryakumar scored 26 off 15 balls, including two sixes against Zeeshan Ansari, before falling to Cummins.

Jacks contributed 36 runs from 26 balls, featuring three boundaries and two sixes, before being caught by Ansari off Cummins at mid-off.

The Mumbai Indians' chase experienced a slight wobble as they went from 121/3 to 128/4, requiring 35 more runs for victory.

Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya steadied the innings, taking the team past 150. However, Pandya fell with just two runs needed, caught by Ishan Kishan off Malinga while attempting a six to finish the game.

Naman Dhir's three-ball duck caused a minor stutter as Mumbai's score moved from 162/4 to 162/6, but they eventually secured the victory.

Pat Cummins was the standout bowler for Sunrisers, taking 3 wickets for 26 runs, while Will Jacks claimed 2 wickets for 14 runs and Bumrah finished with 1 for 21 in Mumbai's bowling effort.

For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Abhishek Sharma top-scored with 40 runs, while Heinrich Klaasen contributed 37 runs in their total of 162/5.
