Assassin’s Creed Shadows got huge negative receptions before its release. Nobody expected to see a title from the legendary franchise could face so much backlash from the community. This criticism was mainly stirred by the addition of Yasuke, a black samurai. Fans couldn’t stand the fact that the baton of a Japan-based title was handed over to a character who is not even a Japanese at all.
However, after the game got released on March 20, tables turned instantly over its head. The game went on to sell more than millions of copies and became one of the most successful launches in Assassin’s Creed history. You too might have played the game for a significant amount, but might have missed some of the striking details in the game. And that’s what today we are going to talk about.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows: secret details you might missed
Assassin’s Creed is based on feudal Japan during the Warring States era. There were so much talks about the proper historical depiction of the game. But every mouth has been shut since its launch. The game introduced some franchise-first features as well, like unclimbable surfaces. But there are some aspects which you might have missed while playing the game. Here are they:
Increase healing efficiency
There are certain places where you can increase your healing efficiency. For example, if you visit a building named Zashiki, it will increase your Ration efficiency by 20%.
Killing the other way
There is a small watch tower in the Genbao Fort. From that tower, hangs an alarm bell. Now you have got a better way to kill someone. If you throw a shuriken towards that bell, it will break off and fall on anyone standing under it. It can even kill Samurai Daisho.
Loot manupulation
Except for the Legendary Chests, you will always find random loot from the normal chests and corpses with uncertain perks and engravings. But if you save your game before taking out a high value target, then you can reload your game if you have encountered some terrible loot.
Adventurer
In this game, you can get a Bronze Trophy called Adventurer, which falls under the ‘Combat and Gameplay Achievements.’ In order to get it, all you have to do is to shoot an enemy in the knee with an arrow and that’s it.
Leap of Fail
There is a funny achievement in the game. If you fast travel to an already unlocked checkpoint as Yasuke and jump from there, then it will definitely hurt his back if you couldn’t land safely from there. However, Yasuke will utter funny lines like “No one saw that,” but it will also unlock the Leap of Fail achievement.
Poisoning might to be the best choice
There are many ways to kill an enemy. But no other way is as gross as poisoning them. If you poison an enemy, he will start puking instantly.
The OG Assassin’s Creed outfit
If you travel to the North West of Yamashiro towards the Eagle’s Nest, you will find the Path of the Brave challenge. Upon completion of this challenge, you can pick up the Hibiki’s Gear which is an OG Assassin’s Creed outfit. Now if you want to complete the whole outfit, then you have to visit towards the Izumi Satsu region, right at the Senry Hills, northeast of Amagazaki, where you will find the OG hood by completing the Path of Valor challenge.
Animals you have hardly ever seen
You can find supernatural Legendary animals if you visit some specific locations at specific times. They also appear in a particular season. For example, you will get to see a glowing deer in the Sakura Meadow at night.
You are not alone
It’s not always like “you vs the rest of the world” in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. If you somehow break your boat in the middle of the sea and land is far away, then after sometime an NPC will come to rescue you.
Naruto easter egg
Naoe’s playstyle is all about stealth. And in order to maintain her guard, she can be seen pulling off an insane ninja run on the top of the roofs to avoid getting caught. If you witness this ninja run, then it will instantly remind you Naruto’s iconic ninja run.
Don’t get distracted
Kyoto is one of the largest cities in the game, but arguably the most detailed one for sure. Roaming around this city is definitely going to get you distracted from your current objective because of the insane amounts of details of this location. From local music performances to cultural doll shows, the NPC world seems more captivating.
Aah! Good ‘ol days
Many people doubted the historical significance of Yauke before the launch of the game. But his historical legitity is cleverly shown by Ubisoft. There is a cutscene in the game where Yasuke keeps getting distracted by a Sumo Wrestling match. This was quite obvious, because before becoming a Samurai, Yasuke was himself a Sumo Wrestler. Yasuke’s only painting we have in the game is him wrestling.
A Shinobi can be a painter too
The Assassin’s Creed open-world is hugely expansive and there are a lot of things happening in the NPC world. So, if you catch two rabbits playfully fighting or a beautiful flock of birds flying around, you can sit there and paint those scenarios to revisit them later.
The fear is real
Shadows is extremely realistic as well. For an instance, if you pull your sword out, then it can scare away the NPCs around you. And if you chase a frightened NPC for a long time, he will kneel down and beg for your mercy.
Yasuke is good for rampant playstyle only
Yasuke might not be your best choice to play in stealth. If you make him jump to a narrow rope, instead of quickly sneaking out, he will fall from that rope by tearing it, and what’s next? Yeah, obviously he will engage his enemies.
